VAT, reverse charge and CIS for plumbers
Most domestic plumbing for homeowners is standard-rated at 20% if you're VAT registered. If you're not registered, BrewQuote shows no VAT and adds a clear “not VAT registered” line.
Working as a subcontractor for a builder? If you're both VAT registered and they're CIS registered, the domestic reverse charge usually applies: you show the VAT but don't charge it, and BrewQuote adds the wording HMRC expects.
Under CIS, the contractor deducts 20% (or 30% if you're not registered for CIS) from your labour only. BrewQuote shows the deduction and the amount you'll actually be paid.

Frequently asked questions
Can I quote a bathroom by voice?
Yes. Describe the job as you'd explain it to a mate and BrewQuote turns it into separate labour and materials lines using your own prices. Anything it can't price is flagged amber for you to check.
Do I charge VAT on materials as a plumber?
If you're VAT registered, materials you supply as part of the job are usually charged at the same rate as the work, typically 20%. If you're not registered, you don't charge VAT at all.
Can my customer sign the quote online?
