## VAT, reverse charge and CIS for roofers

Roof repairs and re-roofing on homes are usually standard-rated at 20%. Loft and roof insulation installed in homes is zero-rated as an energy-saving material until 31 March 2027.

Roofing counts as construction work under CIS, so if you work for a contractor, they'll deduct CIS from your labour, and the reverse charge may apply.

Scaffold you hire in and charge on can be shown as its own line so the customer can see it.
